People believe that our thoughts are more than just bits of information that run through our head all day long. Each of us will have thousands of thoughts in a single day. Thoughts are things, they are very powerful and they can help us to create the life we want. The idea being that the more one dwells on positive ideas, feelings, thoughts the more of them they will bring into their life. It is also possible to create more success in your life, and to turn failure around into something of value.
This can apply to your health, your relationships, your business or career. I think it is safe to say it would apply to all areas of your life.
The mind body connection, the idea that your thoughts create your life, including how good you feel is an important component to your well being. It is important then to listen to your body and ask the question: What is this symptom - pain or otherwise trying to tell you. Then you need to take the time to be quiet and listen for the answer.
There are things you can do to keep your thoughts positive, and keep these powerful things working for you!!
Here are 6 Ways To Keep Your Thoughts on the Positive Track
1. Try to focus on the possibilities. I believe there are always positive options or possibilities to every situation. Sometimes it takes effort to find them and so we tend to fall back to old patterns. The possibilities available to us at any given time are limitless.
We all have limits. You may have limiting beliefs as well, especially when it comes to the amount of success you think you are capable of and that translates into the amount of money you think you can make. You limit yourself. Your inner voice does that. Your critical self talk, your fear, your low self esteem or the training you received or didn't receive. Perhaps it was from that teacher who years ago said you wouldn't amount to anything, or the pressure your parents put on you.
2. Try to focus on what you have accomplished. All too often you tend to focus on the parts of your
to-do list that did not get done. This can be very overwhelming and unmotivating because you think you spend so much time working and getting nowhere. If you are able to turn that around and focus on what you did get accomplished your outlook would change of course and so would your productivity.
3. Write your goals as if you have already reached it. Next time you make a goal for yourself, write it out as though you have already reached it and are experiencing the joy of having reached it. I know this sounds a bit backwards, but the confidence and assurance that comes from this perspective propels you to take action and more importantly, decisive action. It is often what makes you come out of your comfort zone and do things you normally wouldn't do. I mean take that risk to ask that client for the business, or agree to do that talk, or say yes to writing that article.
4. Have high expectations for yourself and others. Another time positive thinking is powerful is when it comes to family and relationships. Having high expectations for your children and your spouse gives them the confidence and motivation to try, to excel and then to achieve beyond the limits they set for themselves.
The support and encouragement we get from others and give to others can make all the difference for both of us. To have that faith in your kids is what makes it easier for them to take that risk. I believe the same is true for your spouse, for people of any age.
5. Use affirmations to keep your thoughts positive. These uplifting, encouraging statements that are meant to be read and/or voiced repeatedly can make a difference in changing your thought patterns. You know that broken record that keeps playing in your head. It comes at the most inopportune time, when we're trying to make a decision, or implement something new.
Statements such as these are very calming, motivating and encouraging.
Relax, breathe, we'll figure it out and we always do!
When I believe in myself, so do others.
I can do anything I set my mind to
I'll see it when I believe it
6. Take a step back to get a new perspective. Run it by a trusted friend or even a Life Coach. Often times the problem you're having is in how you look at a certain situation not necessarily the situation itself. All you may need is a new way of looking at them. When you are stuck in old patterns, you need to have a new one. Our brain needs a new thought process; it can't just hang out there without an end point or destination. Because of this, if your brain can't find a new thought, it will automatically revert back to the old one because a familiar explanation, even if it is negative, is better than no thought or explanation at all.
